
If your
Google Adwords costs increase to a level you're at all uncomfortable with, simply pause your campaigns. It can be paused at the click of a button. The moment you do that you've immediately stopped your adverts displaying. No-one can either see or click your adverts and so you stop any
additional costs.
If you fail to check your account daily, if you leave it too long then you may get a nasty shock when you do eventually return to check expenditure! Don't make that mistake.
What should you check?
1) Cost Per ClickI'll hereafter simply refer to this simply as 'CPC'. It's exactly what the name implies... how much you pay Google each time someone clicks your text advert.
Check that whoever manages your account for you hasn't accidentally typed a very high CPC by accident.
2) Number of clicks.Check that you aren't receiving an unusually high number of clicks -more than normal. If so then you may need to check for click fraud. However before you do, check your sales. If your sales have increased in ratio to the increased number
of clicks then that's fine of course.
3) Advert Positions.Expert research has proven that in most cases the best position for your adverts in relation to your competitors is #7 on the right hand side. Why?
Because if your Adwords adverts are displaying in the box at the top of Google's search results I can almost guarantee you're paying too much.
When your
Google Adwords advert is lower down and ideally at position #7, then people who click your advert will be more likely to convert (respond or buy) when they get to your website because they will probably have already visited other sites first and by now be happy they've done enough research
to make a buying decision.
So you get fewer clicks yet a better quality of person clicking your advert if it's lower down. So make a regular point of checking your
Google Adwords text adverts are on average displaying around position number 7.
